The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, on a low semicircular rise. A substantially raised roughly circular area (25.7m N-S; 28.8m E-W) enclosed on top by an earthen bank and at its base by a fosse and external bank. The inner bank (Wth 6.2m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 3.5m) has traces of possible stone facing on its internal face. There is a gap (Wth 3m) at NE with the remains of an external ramp. The fosse (Wth 3m) and external bank (Wth 6.2m; int. H 1.5m; ext. H 0.6m) are evident SE-NE. A farm track and field boundary lie immediately to E. In the interior, a shallow depression skirts the internal face of the bank N-SE, terminating at each end in an oval hollows (N hollow: 4m x 5m; D 0.45m; SE hollow: 3m x 6m; D 0.35m). A third hollow (1m x 2m) lies adjacent to a large boulder close to the bank at S. There is a field boundary immediately to N of the rath.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
