The National Monuments Service's description
Situated in level pasture. Described by Bence-Jones (1990) as 'A house of 2 stories over a high basement , built 1782, which was intended to be flanked by 2 large wings of which only one was built. Front with 3 sided bow and pedimented doorcase; other front with rusticated Venetian loggia in basement. Lime avenue; old castle in grounds, also ruined oratory; Elizabethian or Jacobean Crofton chimney-piece removed from Mote, co Roscommon near house. The main block of the house was gutted by fire in C19; the windows, however, have been replaced and it has been given a flat roof and is used as store. After the fire, the wing was re-modelled to serve as a house.'
