In pasture/grazing, located on a limestone terrace on the lower N-facing slopes of a large limestone hill named Red Hill on the 1913 OS 6-inch map. The enclosure occupies the full N–S width at the E end of the terrace. The ground shelves away immediately to N giving extensive views over grassland stretching N to the sea. Benbulbin and Knocknarae Mountains form prominent landscape features to NE and at N. A spring well rises from rock outcropping in a natural depression located c. 30m SE. Subcircular area (48m N–S; 52.5m E–W) defined by a stone bank/wall which appears as a low, sod-covered stony rise (Wth 1.2-1.5m; H 0.2-0.3m). Some of the protruding stones can be identified as part of the basal inner and outer stone facing of the wall. The wall is poorly defined at NW–NE where it coincides with the natural drop at the terrace edge. The interior, which slopes down gently to E, is grassy, with the surface broken in parts by occasional stones or limestone outcropping.
