The National Monuments Service's description
In front of 'Scurmore House' is a portion of a cut stone pillar, now used as an ornamental feature in the garden. The pillar is octagonal (diam. 23cm), each facet or face being 10cm wide. It is 1.02m tall and stands on a square base with faceted corners. While the exact function of this pillar is unclear the possibility that it may be the base of garden ornamental feature, such as a sun-dial, seems likely.
