The National Monuments Service's description

At Carrowmore passage tomb cemetery, on the line of a field boundary. This boulder circle with a central structure was damaged prior to 1837. In 1837 Petrie recorded it (No. 53) as follows: 'A few stones only of this circle remain. It was destroyed a few years ago…as usual it had a cromlech within it.’ (Stokes 1868, 181). Nine displaced gneiss boulders survive W of a field boundary with six more incorporated into the field boundary (Bergh 1995, 199-200, Carrowmore 53).
