The National Monuments Service's description

Extending into the interior of Carrownree rath (SL013-059001-) from the bank at NW is a roughly rectangular house site (dims. 13.5m NW-SE; Max. 5.4m NE-SW) which is divided into two rooms. The NW room (dims. 9m NW-SE; 5.4m NE-SW) is defined by the footings (Wth 1.1m; H 0.5m) of a drystone wall. A break (Wth 1.5m) flanked by two jamb stones midway along the SW wall marks the original entrance. The SW room (dims. 4.5m NW-SE; 3.3m NE-SW) is defined by bank of earth and stone (Wth 1.9m int. H 0.6m; ext. H 0.8m). There is no visible break in dividing wall between the two rooms.
