The National Monuments Service's description

Located under the bank, on the NE side of Cartronmore rath (SL008-074001-). The souterrain has been partially exposed where the bank of the rath has been removed. The passage (total L WNW-ESE 6.4m; Wth base 1.3m; Wth top 0.45m; H 0.8m) is walled with un-coursed limestone blocks and partially roofed with limestone slabs. The passage tapers inwards from the floor to the roof. The floor is of earth. The passage is exposed at the ESE end for a length of 5.5m where the lintels have been removed and the side wall lowered (H 0.4m). The roof survives, with the lintels covered with sod, for 1.9m at the WNW end. At the WNW is a vertical end wall with a lintelled creep (Wth 0.3m; H 0.20), now blocked, located centrally at the base of the wall.
