Brought to the Schoolhouse/OPW conservation store from Teach Molaise (SL001-001005-) in the Cashel (SL001-001001-) in 1989.
Slab (H: 0.665 m, W: 0.465 m, Th: 0.06 m) with false relief ringed cross filling its upper two thirds. It comprises two main elements: (a) a ring that breaks at its base into two parallel bands (W: 0.02m) which rise to bisect it, and form the vertical members of the cross and (b) twin horizontal strands which interweave with both the ring and the vertical strands thereby completing the cross. The vertical strands coalesce before reaching the apex of the ring, only to immediately divide again into large mirrored curls, one over and one under the ring, which constitute the upper terminal of the cross. An incised shafted cross with slightly expanded terminals develops from the inner delimiting incision of the ring in each of its lower quadrants.
