The National Monuments Service's description
An isolated piece of worked alder (L 0.48m; diam. 0.04m) exposed in a drain face. All extraneous branches are trimmed off and one end of it has been sawn but the bark is intact. The piece is orientated NW-SE and may be the result of modern clearance.
