Megalithic tomb - portal tomb

The National Monuments Service's description

On low-lying, level ground at the N side of a laneway in mixed woodland with a S-N stream c. 40m to the W. The subrectangular limestone roofstone (dims 3m x 3m; T 0.6m) has subsided to the N, destroying the N side of the W-facing chamber, but one N sidestone remains. Two sidestones and the portal stone (H 2m) on the S and the septal-stone survive. A headstone (RO051-043002-) (dims 1.84m x 0.68m; T 0.15m) with an illegible inscription in false relief and the date 1748 lies c. 3m E of the tomb and is reputedly made from the missing portal stone. Archaeological testing (07E1042) c. 80m to the SW failed to produce any related material (Kieran 2010). (English 1969, 1; de Valera and Ó Nualláin 1972, 39)
