The National Monuments Service's description
Marked as a mill on the lower reaches of the Killegland River on the Strafford map of c. 1636, although this map erroneously places it on the River Suck (Simington 1949, Athlone (153)), and as a corn and cloth mill on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. Situated in a low-lying plain on the S bank of the E-W river, a tributary of the River Suck, which is c. 550m to the SW. This is a rectangular structure (ext. dims 11.8m N-S; 7.2m E-W; H c. 2m) with a base batter in the W wall, which is overgrown with ivy. It is divided into two chambers by an inserted wall, the smaller of which (S) might once have taken the stream, while an opening for the axle and gearing of the millwheel survives in the dividing wall. Fragments of millwheels and punch-dressed stones are incorporated in the building.
