The National Monuments Service's description

Marked as a slight D-shaped feature (dims c. 45m E-W; c. 25m N-S) open to the N on the 1837 ed. and as an oval enclosure (ext. dims c. 60m E-W; c. 40m N-S) on the 1915 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. Situated on an undulating landscape. This is a D-shaped overgrown area (dims 26.6m NNE-SSW; c. 20m WNW-SSE) defined by a scarp (H 1.35m) S-SW and an earth and stone spread (Wth 5m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.5m) with facing-stones (original Wth 1.5m) SW-NNE. There is no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance. The monument is bisected by a N-S field wall and townland boundary, and does not survive E of this in Carrowkeeran. An E-W field wall overlies the interior in Tawnagh with the perimeter surviving best S of this.
