The National Monuments Service's description

In an undulating landscape. An area of about 110 acres (c. 45 ha) contains relict field walls of collapsed drystone construction, now partly grass-covered (Wth c. 2-3m; c. H 0.5m) in rough pasture. The fields can be small (dims c. 20m x c. 30m), particularly at its NW end and close to the E-W Athlone to Dysart road. Larger fields (dims c. 100m x up to 500m) exist further from the road. No house sites or lazy-beds were noted. The entire field system was recorded and test-excavated (04E0626), and it is postulated that the fields are 17th century or later in date (Mount 2007) as much of the area is described as woodland on the Strafford map of c. 1636 (Simington 1949, Athlone (172, 174)). (Mount 2004)
