The National Monuments Service's description
A ringpin with a knob-ring and loop-headed was found in a fort in Ballyforan in a rock and sand terrain (Fanning, T. 1974-5, 215). There are no known forts in Ballyforan townland, but any of a number of tree-rings could be intended.
