The National Monuments Service's description

Marked as a wood on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map and as an oval feature (dims c. 90m NW-SE; c. 75m NE-SW) on the 1928 ed. Situated on a slight W-facing slope in a low-lying landscape. It is not visible at ground level in pasture, but is visible as a vegetation mark defined by a narrow fosse feature which cuts across a pre-existing lazy-bed system (ASIAP (185) 28-33).
