The National Monuments Service's description

Some 17th century references to Roscommon Camp (Cal. S. P. Ire., 1601-3, 39) suggest that there were earthwork defences, perhaps occupying the high ground later occupied by the military barracks c. 1700 (Bradley and Dunne 1988a, 97). This is a detached U-shaped eight-bay three-storey building. See this web-page accessed on 6 October, 2015. http://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=RO&regno=31817050
