The National Monuments Service's description
In a slight col with rising ground to the W and E and on a gentle W-facing slope with a S-N stream c. 40m to the W and a spring c. 20m to the SE. This is a rectangular overgrown area (dims 32m NW-SE; 30m NE-SW) defined by flat-topped earthen banks (Wth of base 4.2-4.6m; Wth of top 2m; int. H 0.4-0.5m; ext. H 1.6-1.7m) separated by flat-bottomed moats (Wth of top 7.2-7.7m; Wth of base 4.8-5m) from outer flat-topped banks (at NW: Wth of base 5m; Wth of top 2.2m; int. H 1.3-1.4m; ext. H 0.2-0.9m). The outer bank has been removed at the E and S corners (max. ext. dim. 55m NW-SE), and there is a record from 1982 of a small rectangular house (RO029-117002-) (dims 4.1m x 4.2m) defined by a slight bank (H 0.35m) (SMR file) which may survive in the undergrowth at the N corner. Archaeological testing (02E0005) immediately to the W failed to produce any related material (Zajac 2004a). Further work (E004176) in 2010 immediately to the SW also failed to produce any related archaeological material (Read 2013b).
