House - indeterminate date

The National Monuments Service's description

On level ground within settlement cluster (RO028-074----). Rectangular grass-covered structure (ext. dims 13.8m NE-SW; 5.1-6.1m NE-SW) of two rooms (NW: 4.4m NW-SE; 1.9m NE-SW; SE: 4.6m NW-SE; 2.9m NE-SW) with entrances in the long walls of the SE room.
Excavation (07E0688) of this house demonstrated that the earthen walls were constructed around wooden posts. It had two hearths, and the finds recovered included fragments of a chamber pot, a glass necklace and a clay pipe-stem, suggesting that it was abandoned during the eighteenth century. An adjacent field bank was originally drystone-built, but a nearby pit is undated although prehistoric lithics were recovered nearby. (Shanahan 2010b)
