Known locally as the site of an early monastery, and listed as such (Gwynn and Hadcock 1970, 366). The name derives from Ceall Lallóg, Lallóg being reputedly a daughter of St Patrick’s sister – Dairearca (Ó Riain 2011, 390) and the cill was known as ‘Seanlois’. Situated on the S-facing crest of an E-W ridge. There is no evidence of a church, but a wall foundation (Wth 1.9m; H 0.2-0.5m; L 6.5m E-W) which may be part of a burial ground (RO023-195002-) partly overlies the perimeter of the ecclesiastical enclosure (RO023-195003-) at NE. The enclosure is an oval grass-covered area (dims 80m E-W; 65m N-S) defined by an eroded earthen bank (at N: Wth 9.3m; int. H 0.1m; ext. H 0.5m) and outer fosse (at N: Wth of top 6.8m; Wth of base 2.6m; ext. D 0.2m) WNW-ENE, and by a low scarp (H 0.6-0.9m) elsewhere. There is no identifiable original entrance and the perimeter is truncated slightly by a N-S road at E. There is an enclosure (RO023-195004-) inside the perimeter at E, visible as a subcircular grass-covered area (dims 21m E-W; 18m N-S) defined by a scarp (H 0.4m). There is another enclosure (RO023-190005-) visible as a D-shaped grass-covered area (dims 28m N-S; 17m E-W) defined by scarps (H 0.3m) S-W-N, which is truncated by a N-S road bank at E, immediately outside the perimeter at SE. Rath (RO023-169----) is c. 200m to the NE.
