The National Monuments Service's description

A castle in Brackloon in Ballintober barony was held by Dowaltagh O'Connor in 1585 (Freeman 1936, 163), but by 1640 a house and castle was owned by Thomas Dillon (Simington 1949, 16) at Brackloon. This castle and house were in Balintober barony, but this file was opened by the SMR Office for Brackloon in Castleragh by. There are Brackloon townlands in Athlone, Boyle, Casltereagh (2) and Roscommon baronies, but none in Ballintober barony. Classified as Castle (unclassified), (24-10-2006).
