The National Monuments Service's description
First identified in an unpublished archaeological LiDAR report (Davis, 2015) and an unpublished archaeo-geophysical report (Bonsall & Gimson 2015) commissioned by Roscommon County Council as part of the Environmental Impact Assessment for the N5 Ballaghaderreen - Scramoge road development. It is situated on a slight NE-facing slope. This is a circular grass and rush-covered area (int. diam. 25m NE-SW; c. 25m NW-SE) defined by slight traces of a fosse best preserved (at NE: Wth 2m; D 0.15m) NE-S-SW, but only occasionally traceable (at WNW: Wth of top 2m; D 0.1m) elsewhere. There is no identifiable original entrance and t is bisected by a NE-SW field bank and drain. Rath (RO015-079----) is c. 60m to the NNE.
