The National Monuments Service's description
On a N-facing slope. Identified in testing (03E1374) the course of a road project, widening the N4 (Halliday 2006, 424, site 1), and completely excavated (03E1769). An area of burnt stone in a brown clay matrix (dims 11m E-W; 3m N-S; T 0.15m) was overlain by deposits of grey silty clay and burnt stone in a clay matrix. These were cut by a WNW-ESE drain, now silted which contained a sherd of modern pottery. No trough was identified. A charcoal samples produced C14 dates between 1870 and 1620 BC (www.nra.ie).
