The National Monuments Service's description

On a shelf on the S-facing slope of Kilronan Mountain, and within a small copse of coniferous trees. Nine victims of the Great Famine (1845-48) who died on Kilronan Mountain were buried in a single plot in 1847. It was commemoarated in 1996 by a shale stone (dims. 1.3m x 0.32m; T 0.1m) with a simple inscription laid on a stone plinth (dims. 2.3m NW-SE; 0.9m NE-SW; H 0-0.5m). Mass is celebrated annually in September on a stone altar (dims. 1m x 0.7-1m; H 0.8m) nearby.
