The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on top of a natural ridge in undulating countryside. Irregular shaped platform (diam 34m E-W; 40m N-S; ext. H 1.5m) defined by a scarp with no evidence of an outer fosse or entrance feature. The interior of the site follows the natural slope of the ridge with no evidence of levelling for habitation purposes. It appears that this site was created by scarping the base of a natural ridge with no effort to level the interior for habitation.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
