The National Monuments Service's description
Situated just off the top of a natural low hillock on the E facing slope in upland area. Raised circular area (26m E-W) enclosed by an earthen bank (ext. H 2m - 3.5m) reduced in places to a scarp and external fosse (Wth 2m; ext. D 0.5m) evident at W only with causewayed entrance gap (Wth 2.5m) at NE. E side of site is raised to compensate for hill slope.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
