The National Monuments Service's description
Located on top of an esker ridge running in an E-W direction. Site consists of a large flt-topped earthen mound (Top diam. 3m; base diam. 12m; H 2m) with cut stone protruding from S face of mound. Cut stone appears to be 18th or 19th century in date. There is a tradition of a 19th century burial on top of this mound.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
