The National Monuments Service's description

Unlocated stone circle within the townland of Knockbarron, described in the early 1900s by Purser as 'In a neighbouring field the writer noted what seemed like the remains of a circle of sacred stones' (Purser 1918, 77).

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
