The site (L 154m; Wth 2.97m; D 0.49m) is orientated NNW-SSE, with a slight curve at the NW extent and is comprised of brushwood and roundwood. The level OD of the site ranged from 70.65-71.05m, in the centre of the site. The site was examined 46.96m from its SSE evident extent. In this area the structure consists of a dense deposit of over 50 pieces of brushwood, 5-10 pieces deep with 4 pieces of roundwood. The brushwood (diam. 0.015-0.055m) appears to be predominantly orientated E-W, possibly as a result of ditching disturbance. Twigs occur throughout the structure with two significant beds of twigs located in the densest areas of brushwood. The pieces of roundwood are within the uppermost part of the structure although it is difficult to distinguish separate deposits or layers. A clear upper level of transversely laid pieces of roundwood is evident 30.59m further NNW. Metal toolmarks were noted on four of the elements. Wood species include birch, willow, holly, hazel, alder and ash. Within the area examined the site is present in poorly humified Sphagnum peat with moderate amounts of ericaceous root, within a hummock hollow system of raised bog which extends on either side of the site. The site has been radiocarbon dated to cal. AD 1030-1277 (UCD-9937).
