The National Monuments Service's description
A split timber and piece of brushwood (L 1m; Wth 0.53m; D 0.05m), exposed in a drain face 0.47m below the field surface, with two further pieces of brushwood evident below the level of the water in the drain. The timber is a tangential outer split with some surviving bark. The piece of light brushwood has a pencil shaped point at the heel. This material is present within moderately to poorly humified Sphagnum peat with Eriophorum. Other worked brushwood was evident on the field surface, up to 8m from this material, within poorly humified Sphagnum peat with ericaceous root. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1998. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
