The National Monuments Service's description
On a small hillock in flat undulating land. Poorly preserved ringfort with only the earthen bank (int. H 1m; ext. H 0.3m) and external fosse (Wth 1m; ext. D 0.5m) from W to S surviving. The interior of the site is badly damaged with evidence of soil extraction via the numerous hollows present. There is a mound located in the W sector of the site, this mound may be the result of the removal of the earthen bank on this side. It is possible that the ringfort was originally oval in shape and had an ext. diam. of 64m N-S x 70m E-W with internal diameter of 40m enclosed by an earthen bank and external fosse.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
