The National Monuments Service's description
Unlocated burial within the townland of Parkmore (Cahill & Sikora 2011, vol. 2, 509). The files of the National Museum records that in March 1972 a human skull was discovered during quarrying operations in a gravel pit at Parkmore, near Birr, Co. Offaly. The information was obtained from Mr Michael Walsh of the Midland Tribune newspaper, who arranged to have the skull forwarded to the NMI. It was apparently found at a depth of 0.45m, and no further details were recorded (NMI file).
