The National Monuments Service's description

Unlocated childrens burial ground mentioned in the OS Letters (O'Flanagan 1927, vol. 1, 74-6). According to the OS letters 'In Cloghan Beg townland in this parish there is a burying place for children. The hillock on which it is is called Cnocan mharbhain I.e. 'the Hill of the Dead' - Collis Mortui' (O'Flanagan 1927, vol. 1, 76).

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
