The site (L 800m min.; Wth 2m; D 0.18m) is orientated N-S. At one location it consists of longitudinally laid planks roundwoods and brushwood, and three transverse roundwoods. Occasional pieces of brushwood, twigs and a large number of wood-chips are scattered throughout the site, possibly due to disturbance. The elements are in a moderate to good condition. The W side of this site lies in poorly humified Sphagnum peat with Eriophorum and ericaceous remains, to the E it lies in similar peat, which is moderately humified.
At all sightings it appears to consist of two longitudinal planks and occasional transverse roundwoods. Posts are recorded at one sighting. Tangentially split planks are present at a number of sightings and overall there is a high level of woodworking throughout. This site has been dendrochronologically dated to AD 543/544 (Q10350). The NMI visited this site in 1972, following a report made by BnM, and recovered a number of timbers and stakes (1972:69-73). These timbers formed part of a togher, which extended across the bog in a N-S direction for c. 800m. The N NGR presented here is calculated, based on the NMI record and the second OD is that of the most N extant sighting. The maximum length of the site, as recorded by the NMI, was 800m however the current exposed length is 48.42m min. NMI 1972.
