A dispersed band (Wth 3.28m; D 0.31m) of brushwood in the drain face. The brushwood (diam. 0.013-0.05m) is laid up to four pieces deep. A distinct structure cannot be discerned. Toolmarks are noted on two of the larger pieces. Wood species include alder, willow, birch and oak. The site is situated across two peat strata. The lower horizon consists of well-humified Sphagnum peat containing moderate amounts of Eriophorum and ericaceous fragments. The upper horizon is similar in composition but is significantly less well-humified. It is probable, therefore, that not all elements recorded relate to a single feature. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1996. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
