Seven pieces (Wth 1.45m; D 0.25m) of light brushwood in the drain face. The site runs below the water level in the drain. Four pieces occur in close proximity to each other with two additional pieces located at a slight distance at the same level. A further piece occurs at a slightly higher level but its relationship to the others is not clear. Although all components are orientated WSW-ENE, no apparent structure can be identified. Evidence for woodworking is limited to the higher, outlying piece which is cut to a chisel point. Wood species include willow, alder, birch and holly. The site is situated in well-humified Sphagnum peat. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1997. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
