The National Monuments Service's description
A sparse distribution (Wth 1.45m; D 0.51m) of light brushwood in the drain face. The pieces are well-dispersed, both horizontally and vertically, with no coherent structure or orientation. A single piece is cut to a chisel point. Wood species include birch, willow, oak and hazel. The pieces occur in two separate peat strata and may not be contemporary. The lower stratum consists of well-humified Sphagnum and Eriophorum peat with root fragments. The upper layer is composed of poorly humified Sphagnum and Eriophorum peat with woody remains and fibrous roots. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1996. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
