The National Monuments Service's description
Large roughly oval-shaped platform (approx. diam. 40m N-S ; 90m E-W ) situated on wet marshy land 165m to the E of wheery church (OF014-004001-) and its ecclesiastical enclosure (OF014-004002-). Not depicted as an antiquity on the 1838 edition of the OS 6-inch map, but is indicated on the revised 1908 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. This irregularly shaped platform is located on wet poorly drained land which and may be the result of drainage works dating from the 19th century.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
