The National Monuments Service's description
Ford on a bend in the River Shannon which connects Derryholmes to the townland of Carta in Co. Galway (GA101-083----). According to local tradition this was a river crossing known as 'Slaghta Ford' which was destroyed when the river was dredged during the 19th c. It may have been associated with the nearby toghers in Co. Galway (GA101-037/038). No visible surface trace survives.
