The National Monuments Service's description
No historical or archaeological evidence of a church in the area marked on the OS 6-inch map. There was a local tradition that a church was located in this area. Described in 1977 as ' this is the site of a church accoording to the landowner. This is a very low rise in a flat area of pasture land, there is no trace of a church or wall footings visible at present' (ASI file 1977).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
