The National Monuments Service's description
This cultivation ridge is barely visible on the eastern slopes of Croghan Hill. This ridge is better known as a lazy bed used for sowing potatoes. The date of this ridge is unknown and could range from the prehistoric period to the 19th century.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
