The National Monuments Service's description
Unlocated causeway within the townland of Durrow, a twelfth century poem in the Laud Manuscript in the Bodleian library recalls that 'a Pictish abbot named Torulbh made 'many mounds, many choice causeways (mor tocha togher), many roads and many ways' at the monastery of Durrow, Co. Offaly (Lucas 1985, 46).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
