The National Monuments Service's description
The site (L 142.23m; Wth 1.4m; D 0.35m) is orientated E-W in opposing drain faces. It consists of longitudinal planks on a transverse plank substructure, secured by squared pegs in mortices in some planks. Mortices are cut into both the super and substructural elements. Both radially and transversely split timbers were noted. All of the pegs have toolmarks and on occasion two pegs are used in a mortice. The most substantial sighting consists of three longitudinal planks on a single transverse plank. One longitudinal plank and the substructural planks are secured by pegs in mortices. The smaller exposures consist of single longitudinal planks with mortices and pegs, only some of which have transverse substructural planks. At one of the exposures is a substructural layer consisting of brushwood and wood chips. The site is poorly preserved with toolmarks surviving in a very degraded state and has suffered extensive machine damage. The site is situated in poorly to well-humified Sphagnum peat with Eriophorum and ericaceous remains. The site was dendrochronologically dated to 949±9 BC or later (Q9524). SMR OF007-147---- located 2m to the N may be related to this site.
