The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on top of a natural ridge running NE-SW in undulating countryside. Circular area (diam 35m E-W) enclosed by an earth and stone bank (Wth 2m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1m) with external fosse surviving at S only with entrance gap (Wth 3m) at S. Townland boundary intersects site at E. A lot of loose stones and natural bedrock protrudes from surface of ringfort interior. Dense overgrowth makes examination difficult however large volumes of stone in bank construction would argue for classification of cashel for this site.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
