The National Monuments Service's description

The presence of a crannóg at Clonmacoise is referred to in the Annals of the Four Masters. According to the files of the N.M.I. an iron tongs was found on a 'crannóg in marshy land' at Clonmacnoise. No further information available. (Reynolds-Dunlevy, M. and Haworth, R. 1975, 41; Halpin, A. 1984, 119; McDonald, T. 1987, 23; N.M.I. IA/236/64)
