The National Monuments Service's description
No surface trace visible of church named after 'Moreig O' Duffy' which was located near to the castle (OF005-003001-) and burnt in a fire in 1135 AD. (OPW 1906-7, 4; O' Flanagan 1933, vol 1, 67)
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
