The National Monuments Service's description

Situated within the graveyard at the site of the medieval parish church of Magheracloone (MO033-005001-). There is a headstone shaped like a latin cross (H 0.7m; span 0.74m) with a rectangular cross-section (dims 0.4m x 0.22m) commemorating Owen MacMahon and his wife Rose Kelly with the date 1687 close to the church door (Shirley 1879, 373). The legend is inscribed in roman capitals and reads: ‘IHS / THIS CROS WA/S MADE FOR O/WEN MACMAHON AND / HIS WIFE ROSE REILY / IN JULY 1687 AND HE/RE LIETH HIS FATHER / LOUGHLIN MAC EDMON/D MA PHELIM/Y.’
