The National Monuments Service's description

Located just off the crest of the SE-facing slope of a drumlin. It was described in 1968 as a circular overgrown area (diam. 35m E-W; 34m N-S) that sloped down to the S. It was defined by an earthen bank (at N: Wth of base 4.6m; Wth of top 2m; int. H 1.45m; ext. H 0.3m) W-N-E that was reduced to a scarp (at SW: Wth 2.5m; H 2m) elsewhere. There was no visible fosse but there was an entrance (Wth of base 1.7m) at E. It had been removed by 1984 but slight traces of the perimeter were visible E-SW.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
