The National Monuments Service's description

Located on a high shelf and at the crest of a S-facing slope. It was described in 1966 as a completely overgrown area defined by an earthen bank (at N: Wth of base 4m; Wth of top 1m; int. H 1.15m; ext. H 1.9m) with no visible fosse. It has been removed since then, but it can be seen as a cropmark of an oval enclosure (dims c. 50m N-S; c. 35m E-W) defined by a single fosse feature and bisected by an ENE-WSW field bank on the OSI aerial images (1995). Rath (MO031-043----) and rath (MO031-044----) are c. 180m to the NW and SW respectively.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
