The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on a NW-SE ridge. This rath is depicted on McCrea’s map of Co. Monaghan (1793). It is an oval overgrown area (dims c. 38m NW-SE; c. 30m NE-SW) defined by an earthen bank (at NW: Wth of base 7.6m; Wth of top 1.6m; int. H 1.1m; ext. H 4.2m) and outer fosse (at NW: Wth of top 6.7m; Wth of base 2.6m; ext. D 2.2m). There is a gap (Wth of base 1.2m) in the bank at NW but the original entrance (Wth of base 2.6m) and causeway (Wth of top 1.4m; H 0.65m) are at SE.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
