The National Monuments Service's description

Situated at the summit of a drumlin. This is an overgrown subcircular area (dims 29m NW-SE; 26m NE-SW) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth of base 6.3-7.8m; int. H 1.2m; ext. H 2.7-3m) separated by a rounded fosse (Wth of top 7-8.4m; ext. D 1.6-1.9m) from an outer bank, which only survives S-NW (at NW: Wth of base 6m; int. H. 1.9m; ext. H 0.8m) and E-S (Wth of base 3.4m; int. H `1.6m; ext. H 0.6m). There is a hollow (dims 8.7m NW-SE; 3.3m NE-SW; D 0.8m) inside the perimeter at NNW with an arm (dims 7.4m NE-SW; 3.8m NW-SE; D 0.8m) extending SW, which appears to be an old quarry. The entrance (Wth of base 1.5m) through the inner bank is at E.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
